Connect an agent
Give your coding agent the DZBuild documentation, then ask it to adapt a working app example. Reading the docs needs no account or API key. Installing your app later needs a DZBuild store you own.
1. Connect your coding tool
Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Claude Desktop start the same server with npx, so Node 20 or newer is the only requirement. ChatGPT reads the pages from a URL.
- Claude Code
- Codex
- Cursor
- Claude Desktop
- ChatGPT
Run this once in a terminal. The server is available from the next session.
claude mcp add dzbuild-docs -- npx -y @dzbuild/docs-mcp
Run this once, or add the table by hand to ~/.codex/config.toml.
codex mcp add dzbuild-docs -- npx -y @dzbuild/docs-mcp
Save this as .cursor/mcp.json in your repository and reload Cursor.

"mcpServers": {
"dzbuild-docs": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"@dzbuild/docs-mcp"
]
}
}
}
Open claude_desktop_config.json from Settings, Developer, Edit Config, add the entry and restart Claude Desktop.

ChatGPT cannot start a local MCP server. Paste this URL in the chat: it lists every page with a one-line summary, and each page is also served as Markdown at its URL plus .md.
https://dzbuild.dev/llms.txt
The server reads only dzbuild.dev, holds no credentials and performs no store action. It is the npm package @dzbuild/docs-mcp.
2. Give it a first task
Start with the catalog example. Copy this prompt into your agent after connecting the docs.
Read https://dzbuild.dev/llms.txt and https://dzbuild.dev/skills/dzbuild-apps/SKILL.md.
Start from the cloudflare-catalog example in https://github.com/DZBuild-com/dzbuild-app-starter.
Help me deploy it, register my app, and install it on a DZBuild store I own.
Keep the product list and CSV export. Explain each step before I run it.
Keep all secrets in environment variables; do not ask me to paste their values here.
The docs connection gives your agent reference material. Your app gets store access only after you register it and approve an installation.
3. Add instructions to your project
Files to drop into your repository or client config.
- /agents/AGENTS.md
Repository instructions for Codex and any agent that reads AGENTS.md: where the docs are, the rules for changes, the checks before a pull request.
- /agents/CLAUDE.md
The same rules for Claude Code, with the docs MCP command at the top.
- /agents/cursor-rules.mdc
A Cursor rule, always applied: the contract and the docs to read before any change.
- /agents/codex-config.toml
The docs MCP table to append to ~/.codex/config.toml.
- /agents/prompts.md
Six prompts, one per common app, each starting by pointing the agent at the docs.
Install tokens do not work with the merchant MCP at mcp.dzbuild.com.
